Valdeir Junio Vaz Moreira is a Brazilian postdoctoral researcher and a CAPES/COFECUB fellow (Sv.1042/24), working under the supervision of Dr. Jérémie Bazin. During his PhD in Brazil, he initiated a research project aimed at elucidating the repressive role of the transcription factor GmABI3, which, likely through epigenetic mechanisms, negatively regulates the expression of the anti-nematode protein GmGLP10 in the soybean cultivar BRS 133, a genotype of major importance for Brazilian agriculture. This work motivated the establishment of a collaboration with the FunRNA research group at IPS2.
Within the FunRNA team, he investigates the repressive role of lncRNA in the interaction between MtNF-Y transcription factor family members and specific plant promoters. Understanding these regulatory interactions may contribute to the development of innovative strategies for improving gene regulation in crops of agronomic interest. Outside the laboratory, Valdeir enjoys cooking, practicing court sports, and studying French.
